Tropical Vibes Guadeloupe

Safety at sea

Tropical Vibes Guadeloupe is committed to offering guests an enjoyable, safe and environmentally responsible experience at sea. This charter sets out the essential safety rules, navigation instructions and responsibilities of the customer and skipper.

1. Safety on board

Passengers must be evenly distributed on board to keep the boat stable. Gathering on one side is prohibited to avoid the risk of capsizing or taking on water.

Although life jackets are not compulsory, wearing one is strongly recommended, particularly for children and anyone who cannot swim. Approved life jackets are available on board for every passenger.

2. Cruising area and weather conditions

  • Navigation is limited to 6 nautical miles from the coast.
  • Weather conditions are checked before each trip; a weather warning or heavy swell may lead to rescheduling or cancellation.
  • In the event of a technical problem or emergency, CROSS Antilles-Guyane is contacted immediately on VHF radio channel 16.

3. Leaving and returning to the marina

When leaving or returning to the marina, the maximum permitted speed is 8 knots to protect all water users. Local navigation rules and anchoring areas must be respected.

4. Conduct on board

The skipper is responsible for everyone's safety and does not consume alcohol during the trip. Passengers must act responsibly, avoid sudden movements, follow the skipper's instructions and never throw waste into the sea.

5. Insurance and liability

Tropical Vibes Guadeloupe holds insurance covering property damage and accidents during its activities.

For hire without a skipper, the customer is fully responsible for the boat and its passengers. Any damage or incident must be reported immediately. A security deposit of 3,000 € is required to cover any damage.

For hire with a skipper, the skipper is responsible unless the damage or incident results from the customer's conduct or negligence.

6. In an emergency

In an emergency, CROSS (the regional maritime surveillance and rescue centre) is contacted immediately on VHF radio channel 16. Safety equipment on board includes life jackets for every passenger, a VHF radio and a first-aid kit.

7. Protecting the environment

Nothing may be thrown into the sea: use the bins provided on board. Respect local wildlife and plants: nothing may be taken from the seabed, and anchoring near reefs must be avoided.

8. Instructions and compliance

Safety instructions are explained before every departure and customers agree to follow them. If these rules are not respected, Tropical Vibes Guadeloupe reserves the right to end the activity without a refund.

9. Liability for delays or technical problems

With a skipper, the skipper is responsible unless the customer caused the incident. Without a skipper, the customer is responsible for delays, breakdowns or damage identified when the boat is returned.
