Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin
Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin is a large lagoon of around 15,000 hectares between northern Basse-Terre and western Grande-Terre. A Ramsar wetland within the Guadeloupe biosphere reserve, it shelters the largest mangrove in the Lesser Antilles, seagrass beds and a coral barrier reef.
It is on the opposite side of Basse-Terre from Deshaies and the leeward coast: consider visiting it during the rest of your stay in Guadeloupe rather than as a direct trip from Deshaies.
